Valentine’s Day 2007

February 14, 2008

I thought I’d try something new.  On first glance, it may appear that I am being lazy or uninspired or something negative and discouraging.  Really, however, I am just re-posting one of my favorite blog posts, AND giving you a taste of “Laughter in My Living Room”…..the book that I have published and that is available for purchase on the sidebar.  The book, and this post, is from my first year of blogging, and is no longer available except through the book.  I’m sneaky that way.  So here goes……..

And the Winner is………..

My husband has the unique and infuriating ability to make me feel like a dork quite often.  His dad had the same ability, so he learned from the best.  It’s not in a mean way that my husband accomplishes this, but he DOES enjoy it far more than he should, in my opinion.  This blog was an instance of this, and although I don’t believe that he intended things to turn out the way they did, he was endlessly amused when they did.  Add to that the fact that the whole thing was fairly embarrassing to me, AND that I made it public to boot (WHAT was I thinking?!), and his entire, ordinarily-boring February, was made into a memorable month indeed!

I think I might have won an award last night…..the Biggest Doofus on the Planet Award.  How did I come to be honored with such a prize?  Well, for one of the very few times in our marriage, my husband actually planned ahead and thought of a present for me for Valentine’s Day that I would love.  And yes, he got it right!  He bought me a beautiful charm bracelet with 2 charms on it, and the promise of many more.  It is all gold, and thus, very expensive.  I love it, and will not take it off for anything!  Here is where the award part comes in.

First, I have to preface this, if for no other reason than to save face, if that’s possible.

We usually don’t make a big deal out of Hallmark Holidays, which is what we call pretty much any national celebration that is not recognized by the federal government, but instead was created only to line the pockets of Hallmark CEOs.  So I was thinking WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY cheaper than he was, apparently, and he didn’t bother to inform me of this change in plans.  Are you ready for this?  I bought him a bag of his favorite cereal………Lucky Charms.

Does the irony just kill ya, or what?

Just when you’ve become certain that your husband is the biggest dork in the family they go and do something like this… lol

My present is also food, as I am making lasagna for dinner! For Christmas I got our oldest a box of princess cereal that she always wants. Food can be a great gift!
