Another Post About Non-Flushing Potties. Because I’m All About Starting Your Day Off Right.

August 9, 2008

It’s amazing.

There must be a rule somewhere in a book that tells kids things they need to know to be a kid and drive their parents a tiny bit insane.

The exact moment that our potties stopped flushing, ALL of them needed to do some personal business that absolutely REQUIRES flushing.

If you know what I mean.

Twenty-one hours of no potty and the stinky business had to be done in a bucket an amazing number of times.  And I know what you’re thinking but you can just stop because it is SO different from changing diapers!  There are a nice amount of layers in a diaper that you can just conveniently roll up and not touch.  Not so with a Costco kitchen trash bag.

You SEE the business.

You SMELL the business.

And you must carry that business, swinging precariously by your side, all warm and smooshy, to wherever it is supposed to go.

And then you just hope your dog doesn’t dig it up and strew it all over your yard for your kids to step in the next morning when they go out to play.

I’m sorry.  Were you eating just then?

And let me just say here and now that Costco kitchen trash bags?  Gotta go get you some of those.  There was not a leak in sight.  I was highly HIGHLY impressed and wanted to find Mr. Costco and give him a big hug and kiss.

Because when you’re the CEO of a large company like Costco, serving millions of customers every day, I’m sure it just makes your day to know that someone used your kitchen bags successfully as a toilet.

Ugh, that’s disgusting! The more I read your blog the more weight I lose. I won’t be able to eat for 24 hours after reading this one!
    OK…just kidding! I LOVED this post, even if it was a bit…smelly : )
    lol

    Oh, that is hysterical.
Allison I so admire a woman who can laugh at poop in a bucket.
I hope your toilets get back to normal and stay there till you move.

  3. Try using sawdust instead of flushing, it will help with composting and the smell.

    I love flushing potties.

You help remind me of things I love…

    Blessings! ;o)

I was just wondering how you were doing. I know you’re alone with all the kids and everything so the last thing you’re worried about is posting her but I was thinking about how crazy life is for you and I hope everything is going okay. Especially with the toilet issue.

um. this has nothing to do with the whole “business in a bucket” thing. It’s just that I signed up for that whatever thing that is supposed to notify me when you post something new and so I’ve been WAITING for you to post something and since I haven’t received a notice, I haven’t checked in…

I’m not ALWAYS of a suspicious nature, but I checked in just in case. Now I’m annoyed that the whatever thingy didn’t work.

    That’s all.

P.S. Here in England, it’s always like doing business in a bucket because they are INSANE about being green so ALL the toilets are low-water tanks. There is MAYbe 4 inches of water in the toilet. I SWEAR. You need to clean that friggen bowl everytime someone needs to have some personl business. It’s disgusting because then that toilet brush, it gets all…encrusted and you have to find a way to get all the bristles UNencrusted. So, enjoy your non water efficient toilets out there!
